Message in a bottle challenge

I have started  a new project  called Message in a bottle challenge.
I just loved the theme  and colors in this and thought it would be a fun challenge to try.
They have a beginner category which is right up my alley since I am definately just a begginer at this.
You can see all the things you get when you purchase the challege kit in the picture below.

You have use everything pictured in your project ,not the whole thing but at least part of each thing  must be visible.
To read all the rules and learn more you can visit at this link.  http://www.crazyquiltingsupplies.com/Challenges_s/1825.htm

I am getting a late start since the original deadline was too close to christmas for me ,but she extended the due date for photo's of finished work to March 31st so I decided to go ahead an join in the fun.
So far I have finished piecing my block and started a bit of the stitching.
I still have a few more bits of fabric that I need to decide what to do with.
It is definately a bit harder than I thought it would be to find the right spot for everything we have to use.
I hope to share some photo updates soon.

I have also been dooding in spare moments on scrap cloth in hopes of improving  my stitching.

Happy valentines day !

My gosh the time has just flown by since my last post .
Today I want to share about the crazy quilt  round robin I participated in .
My first round robin . R.R. 6
There were five of us in the R.R.   each of us made a block and mailed to the next person on the list once a month after we added our stitching etc.

Hazel's Block

I was last to work on this one so it is all finished in this top picture.

This one was challenging for me since I was last I had to try and coordinate with what all the others had already done and try to use colors and a theme to go with the rest of the block and pull it all together.
It is a really fun and whimsical block.
The top green and orange section and the brown section with the spider web are the areas I worked on.

Renee's Block

I love the way this block turned out the Pictures just do not do these justice.
Renee cross stitched the beautiful center rose .
I added a dragonfly and wisteria vine in the top left corner and white lace flower applique below and added pink beads in the center.

 Mardeen's Block
I was the third one to work on this beautiful block Renee and Shannon added wonderful flowers ,trees they both do awesome stitching.
I added the flowers and the ducks bumm Ha ha   ..she is bent over trying to find some bugs for her little ones.

Shannon's Block

This was the first block I worked on The bright colors were so pretty and a challenge for me since I have used mostly pastel colors.

My naked block

This is what my block looked like when I sent it off .
I will post an update when I recieve it so you can see the diference.

It was challenging but also alot of fun and I learned alot and really enjoyed getting to see each persons work on the blocks.

Peaceful slumber Cq block update

I have been attending Sharon B.'s online encrusted crazy quilting class and  Learning so much from her and also my classmates.
I continued working this block during classes even though I had already started on it before the class began.
I need to have a steady progress if I am to complete mom's gift in time for christmas.

I had asked if the swan applique was too large for the block and we agreed that it was, so it is now gone and the whole block looks alot differen't now.
I also made some other changes , I hand dyed the sky area , added a smaller photo applique in the right hand corner.

I am not sure if some of the changes I made are for better or worse but here is a photo of my progress so far.
I ran out of dark green silk ribbon I am using for the cherry tree and had to order more.  So I am waiting on that to come in so I can finish the weeping cherry tree.

Hopefully I will be able to finish up this block during the coming week if my silk ribbon arrives.

Thanks for visiting !
Have a great Sunday.
